Date: Saturday February 23, 2019 (evening) to Sunday February 24, 2019 (mid-day)

Location: Calgary, Alberta Canada

We have received a CIHR (Canadian Institutes for Health Research) Planning and Dissemination Grant to convene the key players using HR-pQCT in inflammatory arthritis research. We will share our experiences and research results, and develop guidelines for image analysis and interpretation. As well, judging from the positive response we received from other centres for this meeting, we are positioned to discuss a collaborative research agenda for future projects. This cohesion will support collaborative synergies and the evolution of new ideas and techniques. Funding for this meeting will cover the costs of accommodation (1 night at Hotel Alma, Calgary) and meals for all invited participants. Transfer to Lake Louise for QMSKI attendees will also be provided.

Hotel booking details will be finalized ASAP. Please contact Sarah Manske (smanske@ucalgary.ca) if you require further information.

The specific objectives of this meeting are:

  • To develop a multi-centre research proposal to evaluate the responsiveness of HR-pQCT to changes in rheumatoid arthritis

  • To develop a knowledge translation plan in order to better engage researchers conducting clinical trials in inflammatory arthritis, and for HR-pQCT users to develop local collaborations with rheumatology groups

  • To engage Canadian HR-pQCT researchers to develop interest in inflammatory arthritis, and Canadians in arthritis imaging research to develop interest in HR-pQCT

  • To discuss future participation in OMERACT

The final objective will be discussed at QMSKI in the SPECTRA-organized workshop on Quantitative Imaging in Inflammatory Arthritis:

  • To develop procedures to validate new algorithms and outcome measures using HR-pQCT
